What Does a Hosanna! Worship Service Look Like?
New to Hosanna! We know that walking through the doors of a church for the first time can be a bit uncomfortable if you are not familiar with what the church is all about. Below you will find answers to some frequently asked questions so you know what to expect when visiting Hosanna!. If you have a question that isn't covered below, please contact us and we will be happy to respond.
If I am here for the first time, will I be asked to stand and introduce myself? We do not ask new attendees to stand up and introduce themselves. However, we do ask that any guests in attendance fill out an information request form in the bulletin if they are interested in learning more about Hosanna!.
What should I wear to church? At Hosanna! we aren't concerned about what you wear. Whether it be shirt and tie, blue jeans, a dress, or shorts; we want you to feel comfortable. God loves us for who we are, not what we are wearing.
What is included in a typical Hosanna! worship service? We believe God invites each of us into worship and calls us to respond to His grace. In accordance with our Lutheran faith, our worship services include the following elements: Congregational Music Congregational Prayers Confession & Forgiveness Sharing of God's Peace Scripture Readings Sermon Profession of the Apostles' Creed Recitation of Our Lord's Prayer Time of Offering Holy Communion
Will I be allowed to partake in Holy Communion during the service? Hosanna! practices "Open Communion"—we believe that all are welcome to the Lord's Table. You do not need to be a member of the church or a Lutheran; you must simply desire to have a relationship with the Lord.
What is different between the contemporary and traditional styles of worship? Theologically, both styles contain the same elements presented in somewhat different ways; our traditional service contains a few additional liturgical elements as well. Musically, our traditional services are led by a pianist and vocalists while our contemporary services are led by a praise band.
